Congratulations to IAHPC institutional member, CanSupport, on its recognition as a Public Health Champion by the WHO (India Office) on World Health Day, 7 April 2017.
CanSupport has been working in New Delhi, India, and the national capital region, since 1996 with its model of home-based palliative care, and cares for approximately 24,000 cancer patients each year. The non-governmental organization has 28 teams in the region comprising doctors, nurses and counselors who provide palliative care completely free of charge to all its beneficiaries. ?
In addition, there are two Day Care centers, a helpline and a dedicated cell that helps patients to obtain government funds for expensive medicines. CanSupport also has a training division for palliative care and conducts regular training courses in different parts of the country.
