IAHPC Book Reviews

2021; Volume 22, No 8, August
Dr. Roger Woodruff

Editor’s note:
It is with great sadness that we learned of the recent passing of Dr. Roger Woodruff at age 74. Dr. Woodruff was one of the founding members and the first serving president of the IAHPC, and was this newsletter’s one and only book reviewer. Dr. Woodruff brought incredible dedication to the job of reviewer, and, in addition to it being one of the most enduring elements of the newsletter, his forthright style and clear prose also made it one of the most popular.

Over the lifetime of the newsletter, Dr. Woodruff wrote an impressive total of 979 reviews—up to and including the July issue of this year. The vast majority were books, but he made the occasional exception for a film or music CD appropriate to palliative care.

He will be greatly missed. Read comments from former and current IAHPC board members, and read a brief biography, on our In Memoriam page.

Note for authors and publishers:
If you have a book for review, please email Alison Ramsey with the title, author(s), ISBN number, and brief description about the book. Please do not send books directly to IAHPC. We will provide a street mailing address once a reviewer for the book has been identified.

Only books related to palliative care that have been approved and have an ISBN will be reviewed. Due to the large number of requests, we cannot provide the exact date of when reviews will be published.
