Welcome to the August issue of the IAHPC Newsletter.
IAHPC Board Member, Dr. Esther Cege Munyoro, is this month’s Guest Writer. On the Featured Article page, Esther gives a great example of how the staff of Kenyatta National Hospital in Kenya have adapted the experience of the American Cancer Society to improve the cancer journey of their own patients. On the Traveling Scholar’s Report page, Professor Samy Alsirafy explains how knowledge and experience gained at the recent EAPC World Congress may be helpful in making cheap oral morphine available for patients in Egypt and countries with similar problems.
Check out the Policy and Advocacy page to see how IAHPC Board Member, Mary Callaway, and our Advocacy Officer, Dr. Katherine Pettus, have been busily flying the flag for palliative care at the United Nations. And there’s our usual great selection of book reviews and abstracts to entice you away from the summer barbecues, the beach or the mountains!
With many grateful thanks to everyone who has contributed to this issue of our newsletter.
All good wishes,
Avril Jackson
Senior Editor
