Editor’s corner

Welcome to the February issue of the IAHPC Newsletter.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of St. Christopher’s Hospice, widely regarded as the inspiration for the worldwide spread of hospice and palliative care, but what must we do to preserve the legacy and take it forward? In an inspiring article, Dr. Derek Doyle, our Guest Writer on the Featured Article page, poses the question: Palliative care: The end of the beginning or the beginning of the end?

On the Policy and Advocacy page, Dr. Katherine Pettus brings us up to date on IAHPC’s latest advocacy activities, and on the Traveling Scholar’s Report page, Dr. Nguyen Vu from Vietnam tells us what prompted him to apply for an IAHPC grant to study a leadership course in the US. And, as usual, we bring you a selection of book reviews, journal abstracts and news of upcoming events.

My grateful thanks to our contributors, and to everyone who has been involved in this issue of the newsletter.

All good wishes,

Avril Jackson
Senior Editor
