Call for Abstracts – International Palliative Care Network Conference (IPCNC) – 2016

Palliative Care Network (PCN) is now accepting abstracts to be considered for the International Palliative Care Network Conference (IPCNC) – 2016 ­– Lecture Series and Poster Exhibition.

The IPCNC is a Virtual Conference with the goal of exchanging Palliative Care knowledge for FREE.

Palliative Care professionals from all disciplines and regions of the world are encouraged to participate in presenting lectures and posters.

As in previous years, the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care Association (IAHPC) is proud to sponsor the IPCNC 2016 Poster Exhibition. Authors of the prize-winning posters will be featured in a future issue of the IAHPC Newsletter. You can view IAHPC 2015 prizewinners’ contributions in the March issue of this newsletter.

2nd ICPCN Conference: Children’s Palliative Care – NOW!

The conference organizers invite multi-disciplinary professionals from around the world, including doctors, nurses, social workers, other related professionals, parents, volunteers as well as representatives from various hospitals, institutions and organizations to attend and participate.

With a line up of world-class plenary speakers, the conference program promises to provide rich opportunities for professional development and networking and will begin with a full day of preconference workshops on 18 May.

Australasian Palliative Link International (APLI) will hold its annual forum on Wednesday, 22 June, 2016, from 8:30 AM to 3:15 PM (Australian Eastern Standard Time).

Among the speakers is Andrew Davies (Clinical Director Palliative Care, Royal Surrey County Hospital, UK), who will discuss global issues in palliative care. With a focus on palliative care in India, the forum will include topics such as the Indian Cooperative Oncology Network, nursing perspectives, palliative care in humanitarian aid settings, volunteering, and mentoring.

APLI consists of a group of Australian and New Zealand doctors and nurses who work to develop and foster links between palliative care providers within the Asia-Pacific region.

The Forum will take place at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Suite 7, Level 2, 257 Melbourne Street, North Adelaide, SA 5006. APLI warmly welcomes members and nonmembers to this forum. The cost is $25/person. To register, email Davinia Seah by 13 June 2016.

PALC8001: Palliative Research – Theoretical, Practical, Ethical and Methodological Aspects

This is a two-week course covering theoretical, practical, ethical and methodological aspects of palliative care research, with main emphasis on biomedical research.

The first week of the course will be held in Trondheim, Norway, from October 18-21, and the second week will be in Edinburgh, Scotland, from November 21-25.

All lectures, group work and home assignments are mandatory, to be able to get the 7,5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits. The estimation of time required to complete the course and assignment is 74 hours. Financially, the course requires a tuition fee to NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) of 55 Euros. Additional costs like travel, accommodation and dietary expenses will depend on each participant.
