Open access for Africa

Knowing of the challenges faced by students and health workers in developing countries, this libguide aspires to break the barriers that hamper access to credible scholarly information. It offers a succinct orientation on how to optimize online searching and provides links to Open Access Journals, Lectures & Clinical skills, eBooks and Databases.

This resource was created in support of efforts of Kenya Heart and Sole to promote global health, research and service learning. The site is supported by University of Massachusetts Boston College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Healey Library and the Office of International & Transnational Affairs

2-week scholarships available for physicians

The Foundation of Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, the Children's Institute for Pain and Palliative Care (CIPPC), is offering two competitive scholarships for physicians from developing countries currently working in the field of pediatric pain and/or palliative care.

They are available for physicians from low and moderate income countries for the Pediatric Pain Master Class, Minneapolis, MN, USA (June 1-7, 2013) plus a one-week clinical practicum (May 27-31, 2013) with the Pain and Palliative Care team

The recipients of this scholarship will be selected based on leadership abilities, commitment to moving the field of pediatric pain and palliative care forward, and attending to underserved pediatric populations. The goal of this scholarship program is to identify medical professionals who are in a position to improve acute and chronic pain management for children both in their institution and beyond (region or country).

All applications are due by December 15, 2012 (Incomplete applications will not be considered)
