Travel date: May 23, 2019

Name of Meeting/Event/Activity: 16th World Congress of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC)

Origin: Lucknow, India / Destination: Berlin, Germany

How was this meeting/activity helpful to you?

Participation at EAPC 2019 was a wonderful experience and resulted in fruitful exchanges and networking. The Congress theme “Global Palliative Care- Shaping the Future” was indeed practical and need of the day as we are slowly moving towards a Global Village. The sessions & posters demonstrated the efforts from all corners of the world. Experts meticulously shared their work provoking thoughts and motivating others

How will you new knowledge & acquired skills help in furthering your work in hospice and palliative care in your program/city/ or country?

I was attracted by the selection of Topics for the posters as Non-clinical researches were preferred with practical aspects. As the Social Worker of Cancer Aid Society I was groomed into non medical aspects of Palliative Care. Shaping the future right at the grass root level was an eye opener as we have limited options to implement the Palliative Care in our own settings due to various limitations. Currently I am pursuing the Six Months “Fellowship Program in Palliative Care” & the knowledge gained at EAPC has stimulated me to improve Palliative Care services at my place by targeting to address the issues improving not only the quality of life but also quality of death through Palliative Care.

How IAHPC Traveling Scholarship be improved in order to help other future traveling scholars?

Thank you so much IAHPC for making me there at EAPC 2019.
