Traveling Scholars Program Report

Alexandra Maria Aceituno Rios, Ms.

Travel date: March 27, 2021

Name of Meeting/Event/Activity: Latin American Virtual Conference on Palliative Care

Origin: Guatemala City, Guatemala / Destination: Bogota, Colombia

How was this meeting/activity helpful to you?

For me, the experience of being part of the ALCP Virtual Conference was enriching. It helped me understand at the global level how they are addressing the deficiencies that have arisen since the onset of the pandemic. Knowing how to approach the subject of Home Palliative Care is an interesting topic, because every day in my country it is more necessary and requested. Undoubtedly, as a psychologist I would have liked to see more scientific sessions that addressed the emotional aspect, but knowing the work that is done worldwide, through the posters, was important and opens the panorama to new techniques and the perception of other countries and their cultures.

How will you new knowledge & acquired skills help in furthering your work in hospice and palliative care in your program/city/ or country?
