Travel date: May 18, 2017

Name of Meeting/Event/Activity: 15th European Association Palliative Care Conference

Origin: Vicente Lopez, Argentina / Destination: Madrid, Spain

How was this meeting/activity helpful to you?

I think it was a great opportunity for meet person for over the world that are interested in Palliative Care, and to listen great speakers like Liliana De Lima, Eduardo Bruera, Emilio Herrera, Allan Kellehear, Diane Meier, etc. The topics discussed were extremely interesting and varied, and it was a great experience that I shared with all my teammates here in Argentina. I also believe that it was very pleasant to share with other people from Latin America, as they are places of encounter that allow us to talk about the reality of each region.

How will you new knowledge & acquired skills help in furthering your work in hospice and palliative care in your program/city/ or country?

I believe that what I gained in this congress can help me a lot, since I learned many things about palliative care in non-oncological patients, which is a population that in my country is very unattended.

How IAHPC Traveling Scholars Program be improved in order to help other future traveling scholars?

I am simply always grateful to the IAHPC for these opportunities that it gives professionals from low- and middle-income countries attend international events. I believe that without the scholarship it would be very difficult for people from these countries as it is my case, concur. The possibility of attending different events opens many doors in our head and our heart, to be able to share with others the spirit of palliative care. In addition, the IAHPC's mission and vision is one more incentive to be a member and to support them in their task.
