Department of Palliative Medicine
Description
Our palliative care units (in-patient and home care) in Sichuan University have grown into a successful 50 bed ward and home care unit for providing > 1,000 patients in advanced cancer yearly. Alongside, we have had an interdisciplinary team with 35 professionals, written and edited the first Chinese textbook of palliative medicine in 2005, developed an educational program for students and health professionals, established the first post-graduate training program for palliative care and created networks to further strengthen this model of care in modern medicine in Sichuan and have been developing a Chinese Service Model for Palliative Medicine since 1996.Region
