Landspitali - Palliative Care Department
Description
The department is divided into inpatient and outpatient departments.
The palliative care inpatient unit provides medical and nursing services, physical therapy and psychological care as well as other support, as needed. The department has 12 detached houses in two buildings and there is an internal entrance between the buildings.
Palliative care doctors have an outpatient clinic one afternoon a week at the palliative care unit in Kópavogur, building 6b, and one afternoon a week at the day and outpatient department of hematology and oncology 11C at Landspítala Hringbraut.
HERA is Landspítala's specialized palliative home care for patients with difficult symptoms due to chronic and incurable diseases. There is close cooperation with Landspítali's palliative care team and HERU, Landspítali's specialized palliative care home service, which cares for patients while they stay at home.
