Description
In October 2007, Palliative care was first initiated in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) as a small rudimentary service. To take a pioneer role for the development of Palliative Medicine in the country, in 2011, the university authority decided to transform it into a Centre for Palliative Care (CPC). The service incorporates In-Patient, Out-Patient and Day Care facilities, weekly lymphedema clinic as well as an a24/7 telephone service and a home care service. In 2015, Palliative Medicine has been recognized as a medical specialty by the university and three residents have been admitted in the residency program.Region
