Description

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Palliativmedizin (DGP), the German Association for Palliative Medicine, founded in July 1994, has the task of uniting doctors and other professional groups to work together on the development and progress of palliative medicine and to promote the best possible care for patients in this area. The academic discipline of palliative medicine aims to further develop the comprehensive care of seriously ill and dying people, their family and their friends. The common goal is to provide extensive symptom relief and an improvement in the quality of life in the event of severe illness - in whatever environment those affected may wish to do so.
