Description
National Public Reference Service created in 2004, belonging to Hospital Maciel and the School of Medicine.Assistance to highly complex patients and their families in the inpatient ward, office and home, plus 24/7 telephone medical guard. Interdisciplinary team of 20 professionals who provide assistance, teaching and clinical research. Physicians with specialties in Med. Internal and Palliative Med. Palliative Medicine. Home care: It assists patients and their families all over Montevideo by means of 4 medical-nurse teams, and psychosocial team support; medication and material is taken to solve emergency situations, and medication is sent by mail. It also provides bereavement assistance. It teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses to professionals from all over the country, as well as a Diploma in Palliative Care.
