Description
DEAN Foundation has been dedicated to the care of people with progressive incurable diseases, since 1998. DEAN is an acronym for “To Dignify and Empower the Ailing and the Needy”. DEAN provides Home Care and Outpatient Palliative Care, working from four major locations. The Kancheepuram project is in collaboration with the Health & Family Welfare Dept., Govt. of Tamil Nadu. Care of children with advanced illness, resulted in Mrs. Deepa Muthaiya, Founder Chairman, DEAN Foundation, being conferred the Elizabeth Kubler Ross Award, USA in 2003. In July 2010, DEAN Foundation set up the Paediatric Palliative Care ward in the Institute of Child Health & Hospital for Children, Chennai, India, one of Asia’s premier institutions. Designated beds help deliver Inpatient Care and foster an appropriate centre of excellence and teaching, keeping Palliative Care in the ‘mainstream’.
