Learning objectives 1 To know and understand the values and principles of palliative care in their care practice.
Learning objectives 2 Demonstrate skills in the areas of symptomatic control, communication with the patient and family, and teamwork in a context of palliative care.
Learning objectives 3 Demonstrate competencies in the implementation of a quality care plan for people with severe illness and intense suffering
and/or chronic, advanced and progressive disease, as well as their cohabitants, maximizing their quality of life and reducing suffering, in collaboration with Interdisciplinary team, in accordance with the philosophy of palliative care.
Description The Master Course lasts 2 years with 120 ECTS. The curricular units are: Definitions, Principles, and Related Concepts; Communication in Palliative Care; Symptom Assessment and Management; Palliative care in non-cancer illnesses; Palliative care for specific settings, vulnerable populations and cultural sensitivity; Grief and Bereavement care and Family support; Social, Spiritual and Religious Care, and Dignity and Suffering; Palliative care services, performance measurement and quality improvement; Ethics; Education and training in palliative care; Research: from Principles to Application; Clinical Practicum; Dissertation, Research Project or Practicum Report. After the end of Clinical Practicum the students can apply a Post-Graduate Certificate.
