Learning objectives 1 The goal of the course is to train health professionals to initiate affordable and culturally appropriate Palliative Care Services in their own country and to be advocates and leaders for the specialty.

Learning objectives 3 Through a Training of Trainers programme, course participants are practically taught how to be effective teacher who meet learning objectives of learners
Description Conducted in French. The course targets a range of health professionals including Doctors, Clinical officers, Registered Nurses /Midwives, Pharmacists, Dispensers, Social workers, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to start and advance Palliative care in their own countries. The course has 2 parts:
• Online session: Over three months, using Moodle (an interactive, internet-based, virtual learning platform), the course will cover 15 key topics including fundamentals of pain and symptom control, breaking bad news, public health approach and programming.
• Practical session: Three weeks placement in Uganda: Two weeks of experiential learning with the Hospice multi-disciplinary team (includes mobile rounds with visits to patients’ homes in community, hands-on bedside teaching, assessing patients and recommending way forward, observing morphine production, visiting a hospital service and partners in Palliative Care; and one week for Training of Trainers to consolidate teaching and mentoring skills.
