Description The Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center is a nationally recognized leader in palliative medicine. Our one-year, adult clinical fellowship program is accredited by the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. The fellowship is affiliated with MercyOne Family Medicine Residency, a 6-6-6 program that has been in existence for over 35 years and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Our mission is to train physicians to become skilled clinician-educators in preparation for a career in academic palliative medicine or community practice. Fellows work as part of interdisciplinary teams in a variety of settings - hospital, consultation services, inpatient hospice unit, palliative care outpatient clinic, long-term care hospice and with a home hospice. There are also ample elective opportunities in a wide variety of specialties within our tertiary referral health care system.
