Learning objectives 1 - Critically analyse contemporary theories, models and research evidence relevant to public health approaches to aged care and palliative care.
- Apply research evidence appropriately in evaluating end-of-life care policies, programs and strategies in a health promotion framework.
Learning objectives 2 - Develop evidence-based policies and strategies that address specific problems in public health approaches to palliative care.
Learning objectives 3 - Critically examine current and future trends in health and healthcare and discuss implications for the health and wellbeing of individuals at the end of life and of the communities that support them.
- Apply reflective practice and expert judgement in the practice of public health approaches to aged care and palliative care.
Description Our Master of Public Health will give you important foundations in systems thinking, epidemiology, policy and research methods. Learn how to gather, interpret and leverage health data to create a healthier society. Understand the key principles of promotion, protection and prevention. Develop your research skills and learn how to influence our health systems. The course is offered flexibly, primarily by online studies, on a part-time basis over one to two years.
On successful completion you will be able to:
1. Critically apply, reflect on, and synthesise the theoretical principles and skills for public health practice in aged care and palliative care
2.Investigate, critique, explain, and solve complex local and global public health problems drawing on advanced integrated knowledge and skills for practice
3.Conceive, create, lead, and evaluate achievable public health initiatives in end-of-life care
4.Draw on expert judgement to drive public health advocacy and demonstrate competence and autonomy as an advocate for public health initiatives
5.Engage and communicate effectively with individuals, communities, agencies, the private sector, and government decision makers to advance public health goals
