Learning objectives 1 To demonstrate commitment to carrying out professional responsibilities, adherence to ethical principles, and sensitivity to diversity and cultural beliefs; as well as ability to acquire, critically interpret, and apply knowledge related to palliative care and hospice medicine.
Learning objectives 2 To identify patients affected with acute and chronic disease processes with additional needs for palliation, as well as recognize the needs of family members requiring palliative care support.
Learning objectives 3 -To utilize interpersonal and communication skills that result in efficient and comprehensive information exchange and partnering with patients, family units, and other professional associates.
-To understand how to practice high quality health care as related to palliative care and hospice medicine, and to advocate for patients/families within the context of the health care system.
Description Our ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship Program at Prisma Health and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia provides comprehensive subspecialty training for graduates of internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, psychiatry, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery or pediatrics residency training programs.
