Learning objectives 1 To enable the nurses respectively to incorporate the Palliative Care principles and approach in their practice and help them to work in the community-based Palliative Care organizations and Government Health Care Institutions.
Learning objectives 2 To improve “hands-on” training in palliative care nursing. The bulk of the learning process will be by the bedside, in the outpatient department, in the wards, and at patients’ homes. In addition to home visits, the participant will also attend some peripheral palliative care clinics in some outlying towns.
Learning objectives 3 To improve communication skills, knowledge, and attitude in professional life. There will be one or two academic exercises every day – the majority of the subjects will be covered in the form of interactive tutorials. Periodically the participant will be expected to make short presentations on some of the subjects as well as to present interesting reports of patients and problems.
Description This six-week course enables participants to gain practical -hands-on- training in palliative care nursing supplemented by theoretical background. Any nurse holding a recognized degree or certificate in nursing with permanent registration and interested in palliative care is eligible to do the course.
