Attendees of Seminar 5 "Research Informing Practice in Palliative and End-of-Life Care." are invited to submit an abstract for poster display within their seminar. After their seminar, the posters will be transferred and combined with all other posters in the exhibit hall.
Submission deadline: June 15th, 2004
Submissions are welcome for poster presentations in the following categories:
Aging & Geriatrics Care for the Caregiver Educational Issues Ethical Issues Global Development of Palliative Care: The Role of IAHPC Loss and Bereavement Pediatrics Psychosocial Issues Rehabilitation including Nutrition, Complementary Therapies, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Symptom Control Spirituality Volunteers

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT from EPERC
The Medical College of Wisconsin is offering a 2-½ day training program for hospitals wishing to start either an adult or pediatric palliative
care program.
Program objectives:
·Learn how to start and maintain a financially viable program;
·Learn how to work with hospital administrators to obtain financial support;
·Learn how to construct a clinical service model to meet your clinical care needs;
·Learn how track data to monitor program success;
·Learn how to work with physicians to increase referrals.
This program is suitable for hospitals at all phases of program development, from earliest planning to new and established programs.
Program dates still open for 2004 include: September 7-9; October 18-20, November 10-12 and December 8-10.
The Medical College of Wisconsin is one of six National Palliative Care Leadership Centers, Sponsored by the Center to Advance Palliative Care, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Clinical Practice Guidelines
This month a consortium of five leading US palliative care organizations released the first national clinical practice
guidelines for palliative care. The guidelines are designed to help hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and health systems that are establishing palliative care programs to ensure high quality,
