How was this meeting/activity helpful to you?

I learned a lot of things from this Congress. Firstly, I met very important people from all over the world who enriches the investigation in this area. Second, I realize that all the work that we do can be a huge change in the way the world sees the palliative care area. I want to keep studying, that’s one of the things this Congress make me feel and I want to keep researching.

How will you new knowledge & acquired skills help in furthering your work in hospice and palliative care in your program/city/ or country?

I know this will help me a lot because, I am the only palliative care physician at my center; and I had a lot of doubts about the managements of the patients and if I am doing the things right; and this Congress helped to clears all my doubts by asking the professionals and learned from a lot of topics. I will absolutely do my best at my center and put in practice what I learned. I also find, that I can published a lot of things about the care that we are giving to the patients and enriched the investigation in this medical field.

How IAHPC Traveling Scholars Program be improved in order to help other future traveling scholars?

The IAHPC helped me a lot with this scholarship and with the opportunity to meet a lot of important people in the Palliative Care field. It really worth’s the experience and we can change and improve a lot of things in the palliative care area.

Narrative summary highlighting the needs and challanges you face

First, at the city I live we do not have enough palliative care centers or doctors and also, the medications. There´s a sad deficient of morphine and opioids. This Congress helped me to realize that there´s a lot of people whose worry about the opioids crisis and they are fighting for this crisis to be broken and all the people could have access to the medication and a palliative care physician to prescribe it.
