At present my activity is focused on the academy and it was interesting to confirm that solutions to the multiple deficiencies faced by Palliative Care in Latin America leave from teaching Palliative Care at the undergraduate. Hence, the great responsibility that we have at medical schools to train our students in a holistic view of the person and particularly in palliative care. Without forgetting the important role of research for the development of any activity
The approach of palliative care at the VIII Congress was quite extensive. From the public health, holistic care and research. It was interesting to know first hand the situation of the Palliative Care in Latin America. To see how the governments see with much or too much optimism about the development of Palliative Care in their countries, which has a direct impact, especially in areas such as availability of opioids. In this regard I think the University can contribute through research to show the real situation in our countries. To achieve this goal, I think it performs vital importance that exists a narrow and genuine collaboration between programs and palliative care teams. To abolish political interests, personal interests, removing the boundaries between public and private, between specialties. That the only thing that matters is Latin America, each country Ecuador and each PERSON of the world.
I think that there might be done a follow-up of the aims proposed by the beneficiaries of the grant. If the results were relevant the IAHPC might consider another type of support
How to start from my particular situation? I attended the workshop and lectures on education in Palliative Care. The conclusion was that \"undergraduate education generates vectors of change.\" Our proposal as Universidad Tecnica Particular de Loja is: 1) To introduce in undergraduate curriculum Palliative Care as obligatory, not optional matter. I hope that the Dr. Centeno would us to shape the syllabus. 2) Promote research in palliative care through a Puzzle project involving students with their final projects. 3) Management support to strengthen palliative care in the League Charity Foundation Loja - Casa del Enfermo Terminal. 4) Support the continuous training of professionals working in the League Charity Foundation Loja, through training courses. 5) To support continuing education of nurses and / or nursing assistants League Charity Foundation Loja across the contacts established with the Clínica Familia, Chile
