The Palliative Care Unit offers an active total care of patients and their families by a multi-professional team at a time when patients’ diseases no longer responds to curative treatment. It is the management of patients with active, progressive, far advanced disease, for whom the prognosis is limited and the focus of care is comfort and quality of life. At the same time, the Palliative Care Specialist can make important contributions to the care of patients at earlier stages in their illness.The TMC Palliative Care team offers pain and symptom control, psychosocial support and spiritual care to cancer patients and their families, in the hospital, and in the home, through their home care program.
